I am hopeless, I took just one photo today - forgot to take anything else later on (well actually I remembered late at night but couldn't be bothered because technically I'd taken a photo for day).
There was no purpose to this other than to show someone who wouldn't believe me that I could take a correctly exposed image using flash at 1/1000. As you can see the flash certainly fired and without it you wouldn't be able to see any detail in the image, as correct exposure for the aperture and ISO used was around 1/60.

I ran the adjustment brush in Lightroom over the rainbow to increase the saturation but now it looks a little dodgy. Didn't really need to either as it was already wonderfully vibrant. The E-1 produces the best colour with it's Kodak sensor. I <3 my E-1!

I decided to crop this to the 'standard' 2:3 ratio as I had a bit of space in the left of the frame. Cameras with APS-sized sensors use the 2:3 ratio, which is in other words, the proportion of a 4x6 inch print.
It looks strange to me, too skinny. I love the Olympus four thirds system. The 4:3 ratio just has such an eye-pleasing proportion.

I know this flower is totally deranged! And well done if you could even tell it was a flower, ha ha. The reason why this is so deranged is I couldn't find a small torch or anything, so I used a lighter. My grandfather's funeral. He wanted a bagpiper there because he was loyal to his Scottish heritage. The flag over the coffin in the background has a pretty special and unique story.
My grandfather was a Prisoner-of-War (POW) in Saigon for four years during WW2. He and his fellow POWs were tortured to the point of near-death (and past for many). My grandfather and 67 other Australian soldiers were alive when the war was over. To celebrate the victory they made an Australian flag. The red and white sections of the flag were cut from the flag of their captors, the Japanese. The blue section was from a mosquito net in the prison camp.
All 68 soldiers signed the flag with their names, battalion, and service numbers. My grandfather was the youngest of the group so they entrusted the flag to him for safekeeping. And that he did, from 1945 until his death on April 13th, 2009 - two weeks before his 88th birthday.
From the 68 soldiers who put their names to that flag, he was the second last alive. Now only one of those soldiers remain.
A very special and unique piece of ANZAC history.

Thought I would try selective colour here for something a little more interesting although I'm not really a fan of it. I used the adjustment brush in Lightroom to do it - would be quicker in Photoshop but the computer with PS on it is no more. Which is ok because I only ever used it once in a blue moon.
DOF is all wacky in this image - still not accustomed to just how shallow a DOF I can still achieve from quite a distance with my new 50-200mm.

This looks strangely fake and I did do a bit of adjusting and editing in Lightroom but the original doesn't look much different to this! I was there at a hard time of day to shoot - the sun was low in the sky on a cloudless day which resulted in full sun coming in directly on those huts. But this resulted in being able to get good exposure for both the huts and the vibrant blue sky :)
There were very harsh shadows in the sand so I upped the fill light, and also increased the clarity and the vibrance. Also I cloned out some annoying bushes above the first hut on the right, and to the side of the far hut.
I love it! So bright and vibrant and almost surreal!

We were outside at dusk and I realised I hadn't taken today's photo - to take the opportunity to explore the noise level the E-1 produces at ISO 3200.
I deliberately underexposed the shot in camera, and then brought the exposure back up around 1.5 stops in Lightroom to accentuate the grain/digital noise. The compression here means it is not so obvious but viewing the full-size version the noise is quite bad!
To see it better, here is a 1:2 crop of the image. The first shows the digital noise/grain out of the camera. The second shows the same image with basic noise reduction applied in Adobe Lightroom.

I am compiling a photo book for my Zara's birthday - it's an alphabet book made with photos I have taken. Starts at 'a' - and there will be say, four images of things starting with 'a', next page will be 'b', and so on...
So this is one of the 'b' images.
The DOF is a little shallow but I'm not piling those books up again!
